Çarshi Mosque

Located to the west of the Museum of Kosovo, Çarshi Mosque was built to mark the victory of Sultan Murad I and Ottoman forces in the Battle of Kosovo in 1389. Built in the 15th century by Sultan Bayezid I to honor his father Sultan Murad I, the mosque takes the name after Çarshia e Vjetër [the Old Bazaar], because the Mosque used to have the Bazaar in front, which was torn down in the ‘60s. Çarshi Mosque has experienced radical transformations and only the minaret has remained intact and maintained its original design.
