Arranged in lead, letter by letter
The project "Arranged in lead, letter by letter" tells the story of the processes involved in the creation of the newspaper Rilindja and the role of individuals who contributed to shaping Kosovo's cultural identity. The project's title, borrowed from the writer Nazmi Rrahmani, illustrates one of the most difficult moments in the printing press. This detail highlights not only the physical effort involved but also the significance of each element in historiography in building a larger narrative.
Through the stories of ten individuals who contributed to Rilindja, the project creates a reflection of the Rilindja period during former Yugoslavia, giving voice to memories that, through listening and reflection, can transform the way we understand them. This dialogue between the past and the present opens up new possibilities to reconsider our social roles and to appreciate stories that are often silenced, yet remain important in shaping our national and cultural identity.
While the iconic Rilindja building, constructed in 1971, remains a witness to social and cultural changes, the project "Arranged in lead, letter by letter" reminds us that public spaces are more than just physical objects; they are spaces of memory and social interaction.
