Polyclinic: Sfirca Family House

The expulsion of Albanian medical staff from all institutions called for mobilisation. Consequently, many private homes became primary care facilities that served Kosovar Albanians for free. In March 1992, the house of Shaban Sfirca, located in Pristina’s suburb Vranjevc, was transformed into Polyclinic “Nëna” under the umbrella of the then established humanitarian health organisation Mother Teresa Association run by Dr. Gani Demolli. This health system organized by Albanians was supported by the citizen’s monthly contribution of 3 percent, diaspora and the non – governmental organisation Mother Teresa. Nevertheless, the medical staff of various profiles in more than ninety clinics all around Kosovo served voluntarily.
