On the yard of the Government of Kosovo, where the only synagogue in the city used to be, now stands a plaque commemorating Jewish Holocaust victims. Kosovo citizens helped Jews during the Second World War to reach to a safer haven, and many were awarded by Yad Vashem with the honorary title Righteous Among the Nations. This commemorative plaque is an attempt at creating a presence of the Jewish community in Pristina, but also fostering friendship between Jews and Kosovo Albanians. The memorial was inaugurated on May 23, 2013.
