Bauhaus inspired, the Monument of Revolution at the Brotherhood and Unity Square was built in 1961. The twenty-two metre tall obelisk with three poles, accompanied by smaller interlaced sculptures portraying the fallen partisans, commemorates the collective fight during the Second World War. Designed by the sculptor Miodrag Živković, the monument symbolizes solidarity and unity among the three nations living in Kosovo at the time: Albanians, Montenegrins and Serbs. In 2018, the square was renamed after Adem Jashari, the hero of the 1999 Kosovo War, while the monument has been referred to as the Freedom Monument.
