The urban plan of 1962 designed by the late architect Bashkim Fehmiu brought to life several large neighborhoods of Pristina, Ulpiana being among them. Almost half a century later, it is still considered the best planned area of the city. Consisting of residential blocks typical in Central and Southeastern socialist cities, it was dedicated to the middle-class professionals who were massively settling in Pristina during the ‘60s and ‘70s. To this day, Ulpiana Fountain is the focal point of the neighborhood and is used as a recreational area for all generations. It is from this hill-like point where a great magic hour of the city can be experienced which is why it is, often called the most poetic landmark of Pristina.
