The Cathedral Church of Christ the Saviour

Christ the Saviour is an unfinished Serbian-Orthodox church located in the center of the city, adjacent to the National and University Library. Even though churches are rarely built on university campuses in contemporary times, the Church’s construction began in 1995. In Milosević’s Yugoslavia, religion and the state operated hand-in-hand. Accordingly, the Pristina Municipality issued a building permit and ownership of the land to the Serbian Orthodox Church. Therefore, in 2017 after several years of court battle, the Kosovo Appeals Court rejected the complaint of University of Pristina’s over land ownership, leaving the life of this structure in pending mode for the years to come.
