Emincik housing complex

Located in the old part of the town, the Emincik housing complex is one of the rarest that has managed to preserve its original appearance. The Emincik housing complex comprised two houses, one built in the 18th century, while the other in the 19th century. The smaller house on the left side of the yard has two entrances: the first takes you to the fireplace, the second to the oda. On the right, the big house which consists of hayat and six rooms and two corridors. What characterizes the houses of this time were the hamamicik, or the small baths, that enabled the members of the family to maintain a high level of personal hygiene. In the beginning of the yard is the structure of the city’s synagogue which was placed there during the ‘60s, but today it does not have the same purpose. In 1959, during the Ranković time, the Emincik family migrated to Turkey. The Emincik family property was bought by the Pristina Municipality and opened to the public as the Museum of Natural History. Later in 2006, it became the Ethnological Museum.
