Football is one of the people of Pristina’s oldest and favorite pastimes. The stadium of Pristina was constructed in 1953 to serve the Pristina Football Club, which was founded in 1922 and changed its names from Kosova to Proleter, Jedinstvo, Kosova again and finally Pristina. In the Stadium of Pristina, the Pristina Football Club played the most memorable matches during the ‘80s when it became part of the Yugoslav First League. Today, the stadium serves the National Team of Kosovo since it became part of FIFA and UEFA and is now named after the late Fadil Vokrri, who is remembered as one of the most glorious players of Pristina FC during the ‘80s and was the President of the Kosovo Football Federation from 2008 until his death in 2018.
